The Physical & The Spiritual

The Physical & The Spiritual   “Before Abraham was born, I AM.” - Jesus (John 8:58). It is understandable why God would see greater importance in the eternal than in the physical. God experienced the material on this earth briefly, and He experienced it for spiritual reasons.   Matthew, in his defense of Christ, trying to convince the Jews of spiritual things, quoted the words of a Divine source concerning Mary, the mother of Jesus, her coming son, and her son’s mission, saying, “She (i.e., Mary) will bear a Son (i.e., miraculous conception); and you shall call His name Jesus (humble beginning), for He will save His people from their sins.” (i.e., spiritual) - Mt. 1:21   When the Jews tried to apprehend Jesus to make Him King forcefully, He fled. And when He stood before the Roman government who threatened His life, He spoke the nature of His Kingdom, spiritual. Again, because His greater mission is spiritual (not that the physical holds no importance), we must remain focused on spiritual priorities.   Journey along with us in this portion of Scripture.
